Renting DJ Equipment for a Wedding in Guanacaste

Pioneer XDJ-RX3 for rent in Costa Rica

Guanacaste is one of the most popular places in Costa Rica to get married. Beach ceremonies at sunset, receptions at resorts and private estates, and long dinners under the stars all have one thing in common: the music has to work, from the first walk down the aisle to the last song of the night. If your DJ is flying in, or a friend is playing, you will probably need to rent the DJ equipment and sound locally. This guide covers what to rent and how it works with Speaker Hire Costa Rica. One note before we start: we rent equipment only. We do not provide DJs, so you will book your DJ separately.

Start with the timeline, not the gear

A wedding usually has three audio moments: the ceremony, the cocktail hour and dinner, and the party. Each has different needs.

  • Ceremony: guests need to hear vows and the processional music clearly, often outdoors. One powered speaker is usually enough for a small ceremony.
  • Cocktails and dinner: background music and speeches. Clean sound at low to moderate volume.
  • Party: full range sound with bass and a proper DJ setup.

Ask your DJ and your venue how the space is laid out. If the ceremony and the reception are in different places, you may want a separate speaker for each so nothing has to be moved mid-event.

Which DJ equipment to rent

Most wedding DJs are happy on one of three setups, all of which we rent:

  • Pioneer XDJ-RX3, USD 300 per night. An all-in-one system with a built-in mixer and touchscreen. The DJ plays straight from USB, no laptop needed. This is the setup we see booked most often for weddings because it is simple and reliable.
  • Pioneer DDJ-FLX6, USD 150 per night. A 4-channel controller for Serato DJ. Ideal if your DJ (or your cousin) already plays on Serato and will bring a laptop.
  • Pioneer CDJ-2000 NXS2, USD 450 per night. The club-standard player. Choose it if your DJ's rider asks for CDJs; send us the rider so we can confirm the complete booth.

Speakers for the ceremony, dinner and dance floor

Our speakers are powered Electro-Voice units, which means the amplifier is built in: plug in power and connect the mixer.

  • Electro-Voice ZLX12, USD 50 per night: clear sound for speech and music. A good fit for the ceremony, for dinner, or as a DJ monitor.
  • Electro-Voice ZLX15, USD 75 per night: more output and low end for the reception and dance floor.
  • QLC 18-inch subwoofer, USD 75 per night: the bass that makes a dance floor feel full.

A common wedding package is an XDJ-RX3, two ZLX15 speakers and a subwoofer for the party, plus one ZLX12 for the ceremony. At our listed rates that is USD 575 per night before delivery and VAT. Smaller, intimate weddings often only need a controller and a pair of ZLX12s.

Delivery, setup and timing

We are based in Playa Grande, Guanacaste, and deliver anywhere in Costa Rica. Delivery is priced by distance from Playa Grande and we confirm the fee before you book. Setup and breakdown are available for an additional fee, which many couples choose so that nobody in the wedding party has to deal with cables on the day. Our rates are per night, so if your celebrations run over a welcome party and the wedding day, ask us about a multi-night rental.

Weather and venue tips

In the dry season Guanacaste is reliably sunny, but evenings can be windy on the coast. In the green season, afternoon rain is common. In both cases, plan a covered area for the DJ table and keep speakers on a hard, level surface away from sand, pools and sprinklers. Check your venue's rules on volume and finishing times, and ask us before running the system on a generator.

How booking works

  1. Send us your date, venue and the setup your DJ prefers on WhatsApp (+506 6206 6688), or add items to your cart in the shop.
  2. Book with a 50% non-refundable payment. The other 50% is due on delivery or pickup.
  3. At handoff we check everything with you and collect a refundable deposit: USD 500 for orders under USD 1,000, USD 1,000 for orders of USD 1,000 or more.

Popular wedding dates in the dry season book up early, so it pays to reserve equipment as soon as your date and DJ are confirmed. For the full catalogue and prices see DJ equipment rental in Costa Rica, or our Guanacaste delivery page.
